Brian Montenegro has been in fine form back in Paraguayan football.

A young forward who never really got a chance at Leeds United was Paraguayan Brian Montenegro. Signed on loan from Nacional Asuncion in 2014 he featured just five times for Leeds and the Yorkshire club did not take up the option to buy the player.

But he is certainly looking like he has put his Leeds United woes behind him.

He is in fine form for current club Olimpia. He joined the side in his home nation after an unsuccessful stint in Argentina with Lanus. He made his debut for the club on the 6th February and has gone on to score five goals in seven games since making the move.

Montenegro had an excellent spell at another Paraguayan side, Nacional, prior to his Lanus transfer – scoring 18 goals, including two hat-tricks, in 22 appearances.

Leeds United, as well as West Ham who also had him on loan earlier in his career, may have given up on a talent that clearly has the ability to score goals on a regular basis.

Leeds fans will no doubt be keeping an eye on the player as he continues to thrive back in South America.
