Wolfsberger AC striker Shon Weissman is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League quartet, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Chelsea and Leicester City.
As the winter window edges closer, the rumour mill is slowly beginning to start up with Tottenham, West Ham, Leicester City and Chelsea all seemingly keen on Wolfsberger AC striker Shon Weissman.
English outlet 90min have claimed that the like of Spurs, West Ham, Chelsea and Leicester have been watching the Austrian-based hitman during these past few weeks.
It must be noted that Chelsea currently have a transfer ban, so reported interest, at this moment in time, will only be interest because of the ban that is over their heads.
Nonetheless, Weissman will be an unknown figure amongst many Premier League supporters, so here are five facts on the player, who could be heading to England very soon:
1. During his club career, Weissman has played for five different teams – Maccabi Haifa, Ironi Kiryat Shmona, Maccabi Netanya, Hapoel Acre – all Israeli based teams. He is currently representing Austrian top-tier side Wolfsberger AC.
2. For Wolfsberger, he has played 13 games in all competitions this season, scoring 17 goals and supplying his teammates with two assists [transfermarkt] – one of his goals came against German side Borussia Monchengladbach in the Europa League.
3. On the international stage, he has represented his home country of Israel from the U16’s age groups all the way to the U21’s, and was recently given his debut for the senior side. Weissman’s debut came last month during a 3-2 defeat against Slovenia, and three days ago, he played 20 minutes as his side suffered defeat again, but this time against Austria. Both matches were Euro 2020 qualifiers.
4. The above report states that Weissman was being watched when Wolfsberger were playing Roma in the Europa League – his team recorded a 1-1 draw during that game, he failed to score and was taken off after 84 minutes, whether or not he left an impression remains to be seen.
5. In his career so far, the 23-year-old has played 120 league matches, scoring 41 goals and providing seven assists for his teammates. He is currently in his best scoring season in his career so far, and there are a lot of games to come.
