A new name is in the frame to manage Leeds United.

A surprise new name is in the mix to potentially become Leeds United’s new manager.
So who is the potential new gaffer at Elland Road?
Here are five facts about Ruben de la Barrera…

1) De La Barrera is the present boss of Cultural Leonesa. The side sit 17th in the Spanish second division and are linked to Leeds through Whites director Ivan Bravo, whose company Aspire owns the club.
2) He is just 33-years-old but this is far from De La Barrera’s first job in management. He began back in 2004 as a youth coach and landed his first management job in 2010. He has been at Leonesa since 2016.

3) His arrival could be bad news for two Leeds players. De La Barrera has already managed Ouasim Bouy and Yosuke Ideguchi this season on loan and was not impressed, repeatedly omitting them from his XI.
4) De La Barrera hit the headlines earlier this year when he was suspended for ‘making a tackle’ on the pitch while the ball was in play. AS reported he was hit with a 10 game ban.
5) One player De La Barrera could try and bring to Leeds is Emi Buendia, the Argentine playmaker who has flourished at Leonesa under his management. He has been on loan at Leonesa from Getafe.
