According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has Roma striker Umar Sadiq on his wish list as he pursues further additions this summer.

The Gers have already added three new faces this summer in Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria, with Jamie Murphy making his loan move from Brighton and Hove Albion permanent.

Rangers still need a host of new signings this summer though, and Gerrard may well be pursuing a new striker given that Kenny Miller and Eduardo Herrera are both leaving this summer and Jason Cummings has headed back to Nottingham Forest after his loan spell.

It’s now claimed that Rangers want to bring in Roma striker Umar Sadiq, and here are five facts about the forward, who could be heading to Ibrox this summer…

1. Sadiq, 21, started out his career in his native Nigeria with Abuja FC before leaving in 2013, and he has now spent most of his career in Italy with Spezia, Lavagnese, Roma, Bologna and Torino.

2. The striker spent the first half of last season on loan at Bologna, but after failing there, he moved on to the Netherlands with NAC Breda in January, where he impressed with five goals in 12 games.

3. Sadiq has yet to make his first appearance for Nigeria at international level, but he did play for his country and score at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, with his Under-23 record now standing at four goals in six caps.

4. In 2016, Sadiq hit the headlines as other clubs wanted him; All Nigeria Soccer reported that Arsenal wanted to land Umar in a big money deal worth €20million (£17.5million) – but no deal materialised.

5. A tall striker at nearly 6ft 4in tall, Sadiq is developing as a target man but is also adept with the ball at his feet and has shown a goalscoring touch with NAC Breda.
