Tottenham have been linked with Lorient midfielder Matteo Guendouzi

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino will surely seek to strengthen his squad further in January as his side look to perform with greater consistency.
One player who could join Tottenham is Lorient midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, with Pochettino’s side set to rival Manchester City in an attempt to sign the youngster, as reported by Sky Sports.
Here are five facts about Guendouzi:
1) Guendouzi is a France youth international and made his debut for his country at U20 level last month having previously featured for the U18s and U19s. He is also eligible to play for Morocco owing to his heritage.

2) A defensive midfielder, Guendouzi has been identified by Tottenham as a potential long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele, as reported by Sky Sports.
3) Guendouzi was previously at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before leaving for Lorient in 2014.

4) The 18-year-old was named as Lorient’s player of the month for October this year, as voted for by the club’s supporters, as he fended off competition from Denis Bouanga and Sylvain Marveaux.
5) Guendouzi has a similar playing style to PSG’s Adrien Rabiot – he is calm in possession and effective at breaking up play.
