Tottenham Hotspur have tied up two signings this summer in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart, with Jose Mourinho having to work frugally.

The global pandemic means Spurs are looking for cheap signings, and both Hojbjerg and Hart have arrived without having to break the bank.

Now, a free agent is looking to impress Spurs, with VAVEL reporting earlier this week that Dion McGhee is on trial at Tottenham.

The former Manchester United talent is looking for a new club, and that could be Tottenham if he manages to win a deal.

Fans may not be too familiar with McGhee, so here are five facts about the midfielder…

1) McGhee was born in Oldham, and joined United at the age of just seven having been spotted by the Red Devils, but never earned a first-team appearance at Old Trafford.

2) Primarily an attacking midfielder with a wand of a left foot, McGhee does have some versatility as he has even played at left back for United’s Under-23’s.

3) The 19-year-old played in just nine Premier League 2 games last season, failing to really build on a strong record of five goals and three assists in 33 Under-18 appearances.

4) McGhee signed his first professional contract with United in 2018, meaning Tottenham boss Mourinho may have some memory of the teenager from his own time at Old Trafford.

5) McGhee is a wanted man as a free agent, as sources close to him told the Manchester Evening News just last month that West Ham and Rangers want to sign him – but it’s now Tottenham who have made the first move.
