Damiao is today reported to have said he has an offer on the table from Tottenham, so if he joins the club in the summer what do fans need to know?
1) The striker is a full Brazilian international and scored his first goal at Fulham’s Craven Cottage ground in a 1-0 win over Ghana last year after previously making his debut against Scotland.
2) His career boasts an impressive strike ratio to date of 52 goals in 86 games.
3) He currently plays for Brazilian side Internacional, and was a teammate of Tottenham midfielder Sandro.
4) Still only 22, he can boast of scoring in the final of the Copa Libertadores -South America’s Champions League – to help Internacional beat fellow Brazilians Porto Alegre 5-3 over two legs.
5) Brazil are hoping to include him in their squad for the Olympics at the 2012 games. South American countries take the tournament seriously, with Lionel Messi playing a part in Argentina’s gold medal winning side in 2008. His participation in the tournament would delay his Premier League debut if he is indeed signed.
