So what else do fans of the two clubs need to know about the potential addition?

Here are five facts about the in demand star…

1) Magnusson only signed for Bristol City this summer, and put pen to paper on a three-year deal. He has gone on to feature in all 16 of their league games this season, with the club sitting in ninth position.

2) At just 23, Magnusson is an international for Iceland with seven caps to his name already. He was an unused substitute at Euro 2016, but has featured in their World Cup qualifying campaign since.

3) He signed from Juventus, having first joined the Italian club in 2013 as a teenager. Magnusson spent three seasons out on loan at Serie B sides, before being sold this summer.

4) Prior to Bristol City making a move, Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers enquired about his signature, Gianluca di Marzio reported.

But after checking out the facilities at Ashton Gate, Magnusson made the decision he wanted to sign for Bristol City, describing it to the club’s website as the perfect team for him.
