Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard reportedly wants to sign a new centre-back.

Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is reportedly looking to France for a new signing.
Newspaper L’Equipe report Rangers are keen on Rennes defender Mexer, full name Edson André Sitoe.
Here are five facts about the potential Rangers addition…
1) Mexer is 30-years-old and plays as a centre-back. He has made 41 starts for Rennes this season, including seven in the Europa League.

2) He has been at Rennes since 2014, joining from Portuguese club Nacional. He had previously been on the books of Sporting Club.
3) Mexer is an international regular for Mozambique, making his debut back in 2007. His first goal came seven years later in a friendly, finally breaking his competitive duck in African Nations Cup qualifying in 2018.
4) He has played under a name familiar to Rangers fans. Ex-Gers boss Pedro Caixinha was his manager at Nacional, and played him at right-back as well as centre-back.
5) Mexer won the first trophy of his career this season, as Rennes lifted the Coupe de France. He played a key role, scoring in the 2-2 draw with PSG, before his side triumphed on penalties.
