West Ham United have clinched the signing of former Wigan Athletic midfielder Mohamed Diame.
What can we tell you about him?
1) Diame is a Senegalese international who has 12 caps to his name, and the Hammers could lose him to the 2013 African Nations Cup.
2) The central midfielder made 26 appearances for Wigan Athletic last season, scoring three goals against Chelsea, Tottenham and Bolton.
3) He is playing in his third country, starting off with Lens B team in France, before Linares and then Rayo Vallecano in Spain before moving to the Premier League.
4) He was close to a move to Liverpool before Kenny Dalglish was sacked, which meant the deal fell through, and West Ham beat Spanish club Malaga to his signature.
5) Only seven Premier League players completed more tackles per game than Diame last season (3.2 average) – one of which was ex-Hammers captain Scott Parker.
