West Ham United are close to making Ivan Ramis their latest summer signing, for an estimated £5 million- but Wigan Athletic were last night said to be close to scuppering the deal.
Here are five facts about the Spaniard…
1) Ramis was signed from Real Mallorca where he made 35 starts last season. He scored two goals – against Getafe and Rayo Vallecano.
2) He is a centre-back who likes a tackle, Ramis received 11 yellow cards last season and two red cards, and should enjoy the rough and tumble of the Premier League.
3) He has been at Mallorca his whole career, save for a loan spell early in his career at Real Valladolid, playing more than 160 games for the Balearic Islands side where he was born.
4) Ramis is a Spanish youth international, playing for the under-19, under-21, and under-23 sides, but has never been called up by Spain’s senior team.
5) He was one of just seven players to make 300 + blocks, clearances, and interceptions in La Liga last season.
