Fulham have completed the signing of Mladen Petric on a one-year-deal.
Here are five facts about him…
1) Petric is a striker who was available as a free agent after his contract at Hamburg expired. He scored 7 goals in 26 games last season.
2) This will be the second time he has worked under Martin Jol. For Jol’s Hamburg in 08/09 Petric scored 12 goals in 25 Bundesliga games, plus five in the Europa League.
3) Petric even played for Hamburg against Fulham in the Cottagers’ successful Europa League run in the 2010 semi-finals of the competition, scoring a superb free-kick. You can watch it in the video below.
4) The 31-year-old was a golden boot winner in the Swiss League with Basel in 2006-07, prompting a move to Borussia Dortmund for a year, before switching to Hamburg. For Basel he famously played in goal when their goalkeeper was sent off, and amazingly saved a penalty to earn a draw.
5) Petric is a Croatian international, and England fans should remember him – He scored the crucial winning goal in the 3-2 win at Wembley which ensured England did not qualify for Euro 2008.
