Fulham yesterday clinched the signing of free agent Hugo Rodallega after he left Wigan.
What can we tell you about him?
1) Rodallega was signed for Wigan by Steve Bruce in 2009. He scored 24 goals for the club including the crucial one against Stoke which ensured their Premier League survival on the last day of the 2010-11 season.
2) He is not the only professional footballer in his family, his sister Carmen plays for the Colombian women’s football team after answering an advert her mother saw in a newspaper when they were short of skilled players. She went for a trial and was selected.
3) The teams he has scored against include the cream of the Premier League, netting against Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.
4) Rodallega may be a Colombian international striker, but at the 2007 Copa America tournament he played in goal for his country after their goalkeeper was sent off against Venezuela and they had used all their substitutes. He kept a clean sheet and they won 1-0.
5) He says his idol his unpredictable yet immensely talented countryman, former Newcastle star Faustino Asprilla.
