Aston Villa have clinched the signing of Matthew Lowton from Sheffield United.
What can we tell you about him?
1) Lowton is a right-back, who can also play at centre-back or in midfield, and could replace Alan Hutton in the side, and cost just £800,000.
2) He is 23 and has made more than 90 appearances for the Blades, narrowly missing out on promotion to the Championship last season.
3) Due to his former club’s link-up with Ferencvaros, he spent half a season on loan at the Hungarian club in 2009, playing 18 games and helping them win promotion to the top flight.
4) He follows Premier League regulars Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton – two right-backs who have progressed from Sheffield United’s academy in recent seasons.
5) Lowton describes his love for getting forward as one of his best assets – and he has 10 goals to show for it over the last two seasons.
