Manchester United and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the talented Hamburg centre back. What can we tell you about him?
Manchester United have been credited at having one of the best scouting systems in world football and considering the multi-cultural make-up of their current crop of youngsters it is a hard case to argue. In the past they have been cited by clubs on the continent for the way in which they sometimes acquire young foreign talent. The likes of Paul Pogba, Giuseppe Rossi, Federico Macheda and Davide Petrucci have been signed from European clubs in the past and each signing has caused its own considerable stir.
Now it is Hamburg of Germany where United have turned their heads. HSV will be trying their utmost to keep hold of their latest coveted talent after appearing to lose Levin Oztunali, the 16-year-old grandson of former Germany international Uwe Seeler, to powerhouses Bayern Munich earlier in the month.
Reportedly the latest target has stalled over agreeing a contract extension with the club and as a result has earned the attention of United.
So who is he?
1. The target in question is Jonathan Tah. Born on the 11th February 1996.
2. The centre back is an imposing physical specimen for his age standing at 192cm in height which is about 6ft 3ins the imperial way.
3. At age 14 he helped his side become the German National Indoor champions for his age group after beating various other representative teams from across the Bundesliga.
4. He has represented Germany at youth level playing five times as an under-16 and the same amount an age group up at under-17. He scored one goal in the process as an under-16. Despite his German representation he is also eligible to represent the Ivory Coast.
5. Also known as an attacking threat from corners Manchester United are reported to be in a contest with Arsenal for the 16-year-old who is currently playing for Hamburg’s under-19 side.
Considered one of the brightest prospects in German football if Manchester United were able to pry him away from Hamburg it would be a shrewd deal that would surely benefit United in the long run.
