Tottenham Hotspur travel to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League this week – and they have a surprise name in their travelling party.

Spurs beat Bournemouth 1-0 on Saturday afternoon thanks to Christian Eriksen’s goal, and now head to Spain as their Champions League campaign resumes.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have beaten Borussia Dortmund 3-1 and APOEL Nicosia 3-0 so far in the group stage, but face a daunting task against Zinedine Zidane’s side, who have won three of the last four Champions League finals.

Whilst star names such as Toby Alderweireld, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane have made the trip, they have also been joined by youngster Luke Amos in a surprise inclusion.

Some fans may not be too aware of Amos, so here are five facts about the youngster, who may yet make the bench against Real Madrid.

1. Amos started out his career as a boy with Ware Youth, and joined Tottenham at the age of just nine, meaning he has been on the books with Spurs for over 11 years now.

2. Despite that, Amos has yet to make his first-team debut for Tottenham, meaning any sort of appearance against Real Madrid would be a remarkable milestone.

3. Last season, Amos was sent out on loan to Southend United, where he made just three appearances before being sent back to Tottenham.

4. A fixture of the Tottenham developmental side, Amos featured in the Checkatrade Trophy side which lost 4-3 to AFC Wimbledon earlier this month, and it’s his performances at developmental level which have caught Pochettino’s eye.

5. Primarily a holding midfielder, Amos is a versatile player who can also play at centre back or full back, meaning it remains to be seen just where Pochettino sees his future in the Spurs first team.
