Liverpool have been linked with taking the Barcelona youngster on loan next season. Would he be a good acquisition?
Here are five facts about the player, to help you make up your own mind…
1) Tello is only 20 and is a Spanish youth international who plays as a winger and wears Barcelona’s number 37 shirt.
2) He was a Barcelona youth academy product, but when his contract expired in 2008 he was picked up by Espanyol. Two years later he was re-signed by Barcelona.
3) It was this January that he made his full Barcelona debut, and has gone onto make 13 first team appearances and scored five goals, scoring the opener on his first start against Real Sociedad in a 2-1 win.
4) His most monumental impact was in the Champions League, when he came on as a substitute against Bayer Leverkusen last month, scoring twice in a 7-1 win.
5) Tello’s contract runs out at the end of next season, and Barcelona are yet to tie him to a new deal. With Dutchman Ibrahim Afellay due back from injury next season, the club are open to sending Tello out on loan to aid his development, while there will be many clubs willing to pounce next January when he becomes a free agent if a new contract is not agreed by then.
