Italian website Tuttomercatoweb reported that Leeds sent scouts to watch Mbakogu in action.

1) Mbakogu plays for Italian Serie B side Carpi, who he joined in 2013 from Padova. He has scored five goals in 17 league games this season.

2) He is a Nigerian striker but would not require a work permit as he holds an Italian passport.

4) His total record for Carpi is 36 goals and 20 assists, but these have come across a 124 game span.
