Aston Villa announced the signing of Australian Brett Holman on a Bosman last night. Fans will hope he is the first of many new arrivals when next season starts.
What can we tell you about the next Villa star?
1) Brett Holman plays as a second striker, linking the midfield and attack, and could be perfect in supporting frontman Darren Bent, ensuring he is not left isolated up front.
2) He is an Australian international, who scored twice at the 2010 World Cup, against both Ghana and Serbia.
3) Holman is 28 at the end of this month and signed for Villa from Dutch club AZ, where he has played since 2008. Prior to that he played for NEC and Excelsior, both in Holland, and had a contract as a youngster with Feyenoord.
4) His current manager is former Rangers boss Dick Advocaat, now at AZ, and he will play under another former Rangers boss in Alex McLeish at Villa next season.
5) As well as World Cup football, Holman also has experience in the Europa League, this season scoring two goals and providing two assists in nine games. In total this season he has six goals and has netted more than 80 in his professional career to date.
