Arsenal teenager Hector Bellerin signed professional terms with the club yesterday.
Can he fulfill his promise? The development of youngsters is always difficult to predict, but the Gunners have high hopes for the starlet.
Here are five facts about him…
1) Bellerin is another youngster signed from Barcelona’s academy – and made the decision to leave to join Arsenal one year ago, stating he expected to get more chances in the Gunners first team than Barcelona.
2) The Spaniard is a right-back, who enjoys getting forward to support his teammates in attack, starting off his career as a winger.
3) He has been playing for the past year for Arsenal’s under-18 side and in the Youth Cup, and was even called up to the reserves. He will likely play a part in the NextGen Series this coming season.
4) He was born on March 19 1995. One day earlier Arsenal had lost 1-0 to Newcastle thanks to a Peter Beardsley winner. Paul Merson, Ian Wright and John Hartson led the Gunners attack.
5) Bellerin like many Arsenal youngsters can be found on Twitter – where he says he is adamant that Fernando Torres is still one of the world’s best strikers.
