Five Everton starlets that could benefit if Unsworth is appointed

Unsworth appears ready to give Everton youngsters the chances to impress.

There hasn’t been much for Everton supporters to get excited about this season, with the club set to face a battle to avoid relegation, while they are currently without a permanent manager after the departure of Ronald Koeman.

David Unsworth has taken temporary charge of the club and there is a possibility that the former Everton U23 coach, who guided the club to Premier League 2 glory last season, could be appointed as first-team boss on a permanent basis.

Should such a scenario occur, Unsworth will certainly be determined to put his own stamp on the side. The 44-year-old has already given game time to midfielder Beni Baningime and there are a host of other youngsters at the club waiting for a chance to prove their worth.

Morgan Feeney

The composed centre-back was an unused substitute in Everton’s Europa League defeat away to Lyon and is very highly regarded by Unsworth. At just 18 years old he has some developing to do but is already an integral part of the Toffees’ U23 team.

Dennis Adeniran

Another 18-year-old, former Fulham prospect Adeniran is an England U19 international.

Usually deployed as a central midfielder but also capable of playing on the left flank, Adeniran possesses excellent technique and is superb at winning the ball.

Bassala Sambou

Unsworth previously stated that striker Sambou reminds him of a young Danny Welbeck, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Although he has mustered just one goal in nine Premier League 2 appearances for Everton so far this season, Sambou remains highly regarded by Unsworth and could become involved in the first-team squad if the club’s attacking struggles persist.

Matty Foulds

A dependable left-back who is also capable of playing at centre-back if required, Foulds has developed apace since joining Everton from Bury in January 2016.

Everton have been woeful at the back this season and, while it would be a major risk to throw an experienced defender into the side, Foulds possesses the requisite mentality to succeed at the highest level.

Antony Evans

The attacking midfielder endured a frustrating loan spell at League Two side Morecambe last season as he was restricted to just two appearances.

However, he has thrived at U23 level since returning to Everton and has contributed with two goals in eight Premier League 2 appearances this campaign.
