There’s a very real chance that, for the first time in history, Everton will be relegated from the Premier League.

The Toffees are in a very precarious position and with a less than favourable fixture list ahead of them, they could very easily go down.

If this team does go down, one has to imagine that the squad will be gutted. The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Jordan Pickford would likely all be on their way, but there are some players who would likely stay with the Toffees.

With that in mind, we’re going to look at five players who could stick around at Goodison Park even if Everton are relegated.

Seamus Coleman

Seamus Coleman has been at Everton for 13 years, and after staying loyal to the Toffees for so long, it’s hard to imagine the Irishman jumping ship.

At the age of 33, his career is winding down in any case, and after signing a contract extension last summer, Coleman will likely finish his career at Goodison Park.

The right-back would be one of the best players in the Championship and he could be key to the Merseyside club’s resurgence.

Mason Holgate

Mason Holgate is certainly good enough to play in the Premier League, but with the defender contracted until 2025, he may be a player Everton keep hold of.

Holgate has played plenty of Championship football in the past during his loan spell with West Brom, and after a rather underwhelming season, it’s hard to see any Premier League teams falling over themselves to sign Holgate up this summer.

Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon is Everton’s academy’s crown jewel, and he could very well end up staying if the club are relegated.

As a local lad, he had a lot of loyalty to the club, and with the youngster on a contract until 2025 on wages that aren’t massive, Everton won’t be under any immense pressure to sell Gordon upon relegation.

Nathan Patterson

Having only joined in January on a five-year deal, it’s hard to see Patterson’s Everton career coming to an end before it’s even started.

Unfortunately for the Scot, if our previous prediction of Seamus Coleman remaining at Goodison Park is accurate, it will be hard for him to break into the first-team, even in the Championship.

Jarrad Branthwaite

Everton being relegated would likely see them hand out more chances to some of their talented youngsters, and Branthwaite is one player who could be in line for an opportunity.

He’s already a regular on the Everton bench, and while he’ll likely be a Premier League player, a season playing regular football in the Championship won’t do him any harm.

Branthwaite could be a true breakout star at Everton if they are relegated this season.
