One of Mauricio Pochettino’s first Tottenham Hotspur signings just can’t stay put.
Tottenham’s Benjamin Stambouli and Ryan Mason after game
Tottenham Hotspur have not had much luck buying French players in recent years, with Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou two recent buys who have failed to meet expectations.
One player Mauricio Pochettino bought for Tottenham just weeks after his appointment was midfielder Benjamin Stambouli, and he is now looking for his third club since joining the North London side.
German newspaper Bild report Stambouli is set to be sold by German side Schalke, who have transfer listed the 26-year-old midfielder.

Stambouli only joined Schalke last summer from Paris Saint-Germain, and linked up with fellow Spurs off cast Nabil Bentaleb.
The Frenchman has failed to make a positive impression at Schalke and is now left looking for a new club, which would be his fifth in the last five years.
Prior to joining Spurs, Stambouli’s career had been stable, coming through the Montpellier youth ranks and establishing himself for the side, even playing a part in their shock 2011/12 title win.

At Tottenham he was never really given a fair shake by Mauricio Pochettino, and while it was no surprise he was allowed to leave after one year, the fact PSG came in for him was a big shock.
Only ever a back-up for PSG, Stambouli was predictably moved on last summer, and Schalke has not been kind to him and his final match against Ingolstadt ended unceremoniously as he was red carded.
It looks likely he will have to make another fresh start and wherever he ends up, he will surely hope it is a scenario in which he can settle.
