Rangers have confirmed a much-changed side for tonight’s Europa League clash with Alashkert for a place in the group stage – and Gers fans on Twitter are still confident the Scottish champions can qualify.
The Light Blues have made five changes from the weekend win over Ross County in Dingwall, after a number of positive Covid tests caused havoc in the Rangers squad and forced Steven Gerrard and several senior players to remain at home.
Allan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin, James Tavernier, Ryan Kent, Scott Wright and Calvin Bassey have all stayed in Scotland forcing Gerrard into shuffling his side as Gary McAllister leads the team in the Republican Stadium after Vazgen Sargsyan in Yerevan.
Nathan Patterson, Filip Helander, Borna Barisic and Scott Arfield all come into the side with Robby McCrorie making his competitive debut.
Rangers hold a 1-0 lead on aggregate from the first leg thanks to Alfredo Morelos’ 25th European goal for Rangers and the Colombian will be hoping he can take a step closer to his 100th goal for the club tonight; his strike against Ross County on Sunday took him to 97.
Unsurprisingly, the bench is made up of a number of fringe players given the lack of options available to Rangers but the Light Blues should have enough to make it through to tomorrow’s draw.
Robby McCrorie in goal is the only real unknown quantity in Rangers’ starting XI and with almost 100 league games under his belt while on loan, he’s got a fair bit of experience already.
Rangers fans on Twitter are still confident the Light Blues can make it into the groups as they looked ahead to the 4pm kick off.
