Will Tevez return to action for Manchester City tomorrow night? Fans will hope so given his previous record…

Chelsea could be the perfect opponents for the controversial Argentine, who has scored against them for three different clubs.

1) Carlos Tevez equalises for West Ham against Chelsea, 2007

In late 2007 Tevez really found his feet at West Ham, helping them to controversially stay in the Premier League. He was in fine form when the club met Chelsea, which is more than can be said for many of his teammates. He rifled in an unstoppable equaliser from the edge of the box in an April match-up at Upton Park. Sadly for West Ham they went onto lose this game 4-1, with Shaun Wright-Phillips, Didier Drogba and Solomon Kalou among the Chelsea scorers.

2) Scoring the opener for Manchester United in a 2-0 win, 2007

Manchester United fans were thrilled to have Carlos Tevez on board for the start of the 2007-08 season, and were even more delighted when he bagged the opener in a top of the table clash against Chelsea. It was Avram Grant’s first game as Chelsea manager after Jose Mourinho’s exit, and his task of visiting reigning champions Manchester United could not have been tougher. Midway through the first half, Ryan Giggs poked in a cross to a crowded penalty area, and Carlos Tevez connected with a brave diving header, beating goalkeeper Petr Cech to the ball. It was his first goal for United, who went onto win 2-0.

3) Tevez equalises for Manchester City against Chelsea, 2010

All the talk in this match was about the pre-match handshake, with Wayne Bridge snubbing John Terry’s outstretched hand after the Chelsea captain slept with his old teammates’s ex-partner. On the pitch, Chelsea went ahead, through a Frank Lampard goal. It would not last long, as Carlos Tevez went onto score for his third different club against Chelsea, and his first at Stamford Bridge. It was a goal of Chelsea’s own making, just before half-time. Jon Obi Mikel headed a poor backpass towards his goalkeeper, which Tevez seized upon, holding off both John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho, before scuffing a shot into the net past stand-in Hilario. It was not his first of the match…

4) Tevez scores a penalty at Stamford Bridge in a 4-2 win, 2010

Craig Bellamy put Manchester City 2-1 up early in the second half, which led the game to get increasingly stretched. Gareth Barry was tripped in the box by Juliano Belletti, and Tevez stepped up to take the spot-kick. He struck it powerfully into the corner of the goal despite Hilario’s attempt to put him off, and take City into a 3-1 lead. There was still time for more with Craig Bellamy bagging his second before Lampard struck a consolation penalty of his own, but Tevez had done the damage, and haunted Chelsea once again.

5) Solo goal wins the match and breaks Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season

Carlos Tevez was the toast of both sides of Manchester last October when he ended Chelsea’s winning streak at the beginning of the 2010-11 season. His solo breakaway goal was enough to give City the victory at Stamford Bridge, in a hard-fought 1-0 win. He picked the ball up just past the halfway line after being fed by Yaya Toure and ran at the Chelsea defence. Instead of challenging him for possession, John Terry and Ashley Cole both retreated, and Tevez was given enough space to fire in a shot past Petr Cech, in off the post. As much as Chelsea tried to break City down, they could not find a way through, and the visitors closed out a satisfying 1-0 win.

City fans, are you excited for Tevez’ return to the side? Should he be involved against Chelsea tomorrow night?
