Cardiff’s relegation is sure to open up some interest in their players from the rest of the Premier League. Despite looking like they might finish bottom of the table, there have been several impressive performers for the Bluebirds this year.
Below we look at five of the side’s most attractive players to purchase:
David Marshall
The former Celtic goalkeeper has had a phenomenal season in the top flight, and was voted the league’s top goalkeeper by Sky Sports Monday Night Football duo Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher. If it wasn’t for his heroics the Welsh club would have undoubtably suffered relegation long before last weekend.
He has been linked with a string of other Premier League clubs with Tottenham rumoured to be chief among them.
Steven Caulker
The Cardiff captain is on the cusp of the England squad for this summer’s World Cup and has somehow managed to impress in the centre of Cardiff’s defence despite their difficulty in keeping opponents at bay.
Has been linked to a return to old club Spurs alongside Marshall, with Liverpool also interested.
Gary Medel
Costing £11 million when he joined from Sevilla, Medel is Cardiff’s record signing, and the club may be eager to bring in some finances through his sale now they will be playing in the second tier next year. It is unlikely Medel will take to the Championship after captaining Chille in Brazil over the summer, and a return to La Liga may be on the cards for the combative midfielder.
Frazier Campbell
Still just 26, former Manchester United striker Campbell has done well upfront for Cardiff in a thankless attacking role at times. After scoring 9 goals in 38 games in all competitions, has proved this season that he is Premier League quality, and he is more than capable of doing a job for a mid-table team as he seeks to add to his solitary England cap.
Jordon Mutch
Mutch has been a revelation at times this campaign, with his 7 Premier League goals seeing him top of Cardiff’s goalscoring charts and indicating that he is a player of real potential. At 22 years old, it’s unclear quite how good he can become, but his versatility (Mutch is able to play across the midfield) should ensure he is a decent addition to any side looking to bring in promising English midfield talent.
