Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has stressed the need for a positive attitude and mentality ever since he took over at Villa Park.

Confidence was low when Sherwood took over at the club, but he’s worked hard to turn things around and the side recently secured three straight wins before the game against Swansea last weekend.

There is evidence in the stats to suggest that the manager has already had a direct impact on several key players, with some performing above the Premier League average in key areas under his guidance.

Fabian Delph is competitive in terms of duels won, Jores Okore is doing well in terms of interceptions, Ashley Westwood has become a source of creativity, Leandro Bacuna is above average in terms of crossing and Tom Cleverly is above average in terms of accurate passing.

What the stats show is that Sherwood is having a positive effect on all areas. He was a midfielder during his playing days so you would expect an impact on that area but he’s also got the back four playing more effectively.

His job will now be to get other players in other areas playing well and above the Premier League average, which should help Villa’s chances of staying up.
