Christmas is great, we all know that – but there are some games in 2017 that just look so good that we want to fast forward to next year immediately.

The great thing about the Premier League is that you honestly never know what’s going to happen. Whether it’s a top of the table clash or a relegation six pointer, everything is up for grabs and this season is no different. As we enter a busy festive period, it’s time to look towards 2017 and examine what are the key matches to look forward to.

Tottenham vs. Arsenal

The North London derby always has a special meaning, but this season could see the rivalry get kicked up a notch. Following Arsenal’s last gasp leap over Spurs in the league table back in May, Pochettino’s men will be out for revenge when the two meet at White Hart Lane, the last ever derby fixture at the famous stadium. Plus, both sides could find themselves knee deep in a title push.

Manchester City vs. Liverpool

It’s always entertaining when Manchester City and Liverpool face off and this will surely be no different. Two of the most attacking sides in the league will come head to head and, as above, with both likely harbouring hopes of a title run. It’s probably going to be one of the more open games this season, and if you are a neutral then get ready for goals galore at the Etihad.

Manchester United vs. Chelsea

United and Chelsea are set to meet deep into April, when the final leg of the Premier League season really gets under way. Mourinho will be looking to foil his old club’s chances of winning the title meanwhile Chelsea will be attempting to prove that they really are the top dogs in English football. Regardless of who picks up the three points, it’s sure to be a tense encounter.

Chelsea vs. Arsenal

The two London rivals look set to wage war atop the Premier League for the remainder of the campaign. Following Arsenal’s early season victory over the Blues it seemed as if the tides were turning in terms of the hierarchy, but as we enter the festive period Chelsea once again look back to their best. One way or another, this is going to be feisty.

Everton vs. Southampton

It seems like a bizarre choice, but this clash will be the first of the bunch to kick off the new year and will feature the Ronald Koeman derby. Both Everton and Southampton are the best bets for outside challengers for the European places, and this game could provide a huge indication as to which side is better equipped for the run in.
