Kris Boyd has written in The Scottish Sun that he would like Ibrox club Rangers to appoint Giovanni van Bronckhorst as the successor to Steven Gerrard.
What’s the story?
Rangers are on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Gerrard to Aston Villa.
Van Bronckhorst is among those who have been linked with the vacant managerial role at Rangers.
The Daily Record have claimed that that 46-year-old is a leading contender for the role at the Gers,
The Athletic have reported that the Rangers are already aware of the Dutchman’s desire to manage the club.
Kris Boyd’s verdict
Former Rangers striker Boyd has said that Van Bronckhorst would be the perfect manager for the Gers.
Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun: “For me, Giovanni van Bronckhorst fits the profile perfectly. He took Feyenoord out of the doldrums and led them to a first championship in 18 years.
“It was a similar story to Rangers in terms of where they had been. He is a multiple title winner and a Champions League winner.
“Plenty of other names have been mentioned, but the Ibrox hierarchy should not be looking any further than van Bronckhorst.”

Would Giovanni van Bronckhorst be good for Rangers?
Van Bronckhorst is a former Rangers player who is still well loved by the Ibrox faithful.
The 46-year-old is also experienced in senior club football management.
The former Arsenal star won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord in 2017.
Van Bronckhorst also managed Guangzhou City in China.
In our view, Van Bronckhorst would be a good managerial appointment for Rangers.
