Cammy Bell has been quoted by the Record as saying that Scott Arfield “fits the bill” as the mystery “senior” man that could be about to sign a new Rangers deal at Ibrox – after Michael Beale’s hint during Wednesday’s press conference.
Numerous players are out of contract at the end of the season at Rangers. Most notably, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent. Others include veteran stars Allan McGregor and Steven Davis, as well as midfielders Arfield and Ryan Jack.
Beale said in his press conference on Wednesday that Leon King would be signing a new deal in the next couple of days. King, and a “senior” star that he did not name. Plenty have been discussing who it could be, since his comments.
Rangers fans would love it if it was either Kent or Morelos – but that might take more time. Indeed, penning the likes of Arfield or Jack seems much more obvious, but still just as important. Bell says Arfield fits the bill as the mystery man.

“He probably fits the bill in that they might want to keep him around the club. He’s 34 but I think he can still do a job for Rangers. Domestically he scores goals for them and he candidate the midfield,” Bell said, as per the Record.
“He’s a good professional and Rangers need to keep some of these guys. To have these guys there who have been and done it at the top level is really important. It wouldn’t surprise me. Scott Arfield is a great pro to have at the club.”
Bell: Arfield fits the bill as mystery man about to sign Rangers deal
While Arfield is now 34, he has reminded all of just how important he is to the club. Playing 23 times in all competitions this season, the 19-time Canada international has had a hand in seven goals. He is proving age is just a number.
Yes, keeping Kent and perhaps, Morelos, is important for Rangers right now. As is Jack. But just as important, is giving Arfield another year or two at Ibrox. A man with 641 club appearances to his name. That experience is absolutely vital.
