Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed to Football London that David Luiz will be fit enough to feature against Tottenham Hotspur.

Luiz damaged his head in an aerially collision with Raul Jimenez against Wolves on Sunday.

But it seems that the £8 million Brazilian (BBC Sport) is recovering well from the injury.

And Arteta expects him to be fit enough to feature in the North London derby at the weekend.

“I think he will be fit to play if the scar is healing properly and he is comfortable heading the ball, there shouldn’t be any problems,” Arteta said.

The news of Luiz’s availability comes as a boost to Arsenal, as he is likely to start in the contest.

Luiz’s experience and aggression could be key to Arsenal’s chances, as they look to turn around their poor form in the North London derby.

The Gunners go into the game as heavy outsiders to get the three points, after failing to win any of their last three Premier League matches.

If Arteta’s side do lose to Tottenham then they will fall 11 points behind their local rivals in the table already, in what could be a damaging blow for the club.
