David Moyes is to become the fourth Premier League manager to pass 500 games in charge.
West Ham United’s trip to Watford on Sunday will be a big moment for David Moyes.
Not only is it the Scotsman’s first game in charge of the Hammers, it is his 500th as a Premier League manager.
The 54-year-old will become the fourth person to pass this significant landmark, after Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Harry Redknapp.
Moyes started his Premier League career as Everton boss in March 2002 and made the Toffees a top-half force during an 11-year tenure which ended with his move to Manchester United to replace Ferguson in 2013.
He has since had less successful spells at Old Trafford and Sunderland.
With 196 wins, 135 draws and 168 defeats from his 499 matches so far, Moyes has a win rate of 39.3%, higher than Redknapp but significantly lower than multiple Premier League winners Ferguson and Wenger.
While Moyes should rightly be proud of this milestone, his main focus will be on getting off to a winning start at West Ham after an indifferent response to his appointment.
If Moyes can overtake Redknapp, who has managed 641 Premier League matches, while still at the London Stadium, then his reign will have been better than many expected.
