Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has claimed that Kylian Mbappe’s first-choice club to sign for this summer is Liverpool, but he’s also open to signing a new contract at PSG.

The journalist claims that the Frenchman favours a move to England above anything else, and while there are bound to be plenty of English clubs that would look at the possibility of bringing him in, the attacker reportedly favours a move to Liverpool.

Of course, Liverpool aren’t the only team he’s considering, with Castles saying that he also likes the idea of playing for Real Madrid, but it has also been said that he’d rather move to England.

“The transfer fee won’t be cheap and I don’t see Mbappe leaving this summer for less than €100m. More importantly, the player’s preference is for other clubs in England, his first-choice would be Liverpool if they were to become involved in that recruitment process, in Spain it’s Real Madrid,” Castles said.

“One thing I’ve heard recently from the Mbappe camp, given movement or non-movement of Messi, given what may happen with Neymar, we reported last week that he’s put contract talks on hold, and is looking at the Barcelona move again. Mbappe is considering extending at PSG.”

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the summer.

James Pearce has claimed that Liverpool don’t have the money in place to make an Mbappe type signing, but if players are sold, their budget could increase.

Of course, Liverpool have one prized asset that has been linked away from the club in the shape of Mohamed Salah, so perhaps his departure could lead to a move for Mbappe from the Reds.
