The scale of the blow that Liverpool have suffered from having Alisson out with injury can be summed up by reading Roberto Firmino’s latest comments about the goalkeeper on FIFA.com.

Alisson is expected to miss the next few weeks of action for Liverpool, after picking up a shoulder issue.

There is simply no chance that the Brazilian will play in goal for Liverpool against Everton at the weekend.

And Firmino clearly believes he will be hard to replace, as he says Alisson is the very best goalkeeper in world football.

“For me he’s the number one,” Firmino said.

“I’m not just saying that because he’s my team-mate. The things he does on the pitch are incredible.

“He’s already done a great job for the Seleção. And off the pitch he’s a sensational guy. He’s a great person, a great friend, someone I get on with really well.”

Alisson’s absence has already been felt by Liverpool in their 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa.

In that game, Adrian stepped in to replace the Brazilian stopper but he really failed to impress

Adrian looked shaky throughout, and Villa ruthlessly punished his errors.

The pressure is now on Liverpool’s reserve goalkeeper to step up, as another defeat to Everton on Saturday could be damaging to Jurgen Klopp’s side’s title hopes, even at this early stage.
