If it wasn’t obvious before, Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott has a very bright future.
Elliott was only 16 when the Reds signed him from Fulham last summer and despite his age, there’s been a number of impressive cameos from the teenager since arriving.
Liverpool loaned the young attacker -now 17 – to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship this past summer and that looks like being a very good move.
That’s because on Saturday, Elliott became Rovers’ fourth-youngest goalscorer of all time when he found the net in their 4-0 win away to Coventry.
He also set up Sam Gallagher’s fourth of the afternoon on 88 minutes after a sublime bit of skill.
Here’s how Liverpool fans reacted to Elliott’s goal on Twitter yesterday:
The Championship is a really difficult division.
Patrick Bamford at Leeds scored 16 times in 45 outings there last season, which isn’t a brilliant return, and yet he scored a Premier League hat-trick against Aston Villa on Friday.
The second tier can be quite rigourous and tough for attacking players, but hopefully Elliott returns to Liverpool next summer as a better, more rounded player because of it.
