Fiorentina are reluctant to let star man Juan Cuadrado walk away and are making every attempt to keep him at the club.
Colombian international Juan Cuadrado is a target for Manchester United and Barcelona, but Fiorentina don’t want to let him leave.
Cuadrado was one of the stars of the Serie A season and could be set for a big World Cup, which would make him even hotter property in the transfer market.
Fiorentina enjoyed the 26-year-old’s services last term but he is also half-owned by fellow Serie A side Udinese.
The two clubs must come to an arrangement as to who buys the the other out, which is proving troublesome as neither want to let him go.
It had been expected that Fiorentina would buy Udinese’s share for around £8m, but the Zebrette are reticent, knowing that Cuadrado’s value could be in excess of £25m.
However, while it was reported that Fiorentina intended to take full ownership in order to sell Cuadrado on and make a quick profit, it now seems they want him at the Stadio Artemio Franchi next season.
If Fiorentina and Udinese are unable to agree, the fate of Cuadrado will be decided by a blind auction – a process known in Italy as ‘going to the envelopes’.
Fiorentina are keen to avoid that scenario and will make a renewed attempt to persuade Udinese to do a deal.
However, the real test of Fiorentina’s resolve could come if Manchester United, Arsenal or Barcelona make a bid of around £25m.
