Florence newspaper La Nazione claims that Fiorentina are ready to swoop for Younes Kaboul if he doesn’t sign a new deal with Tottenham.
Younes Kaboul may have scored an embarrassing own goal against Liverpool, but that doesn’t seem to have put Fiorentina off him.
The French defender started Liverpool’s rout of Tottenham by diverting a low Glen Johnson cross into his own net but his performances since returning from injury have generally been well received.
Tottenham have allegedly been cautious about extending Kaboul’s contract beyond this summer as they have been waiting to be convinced about his long-term fitness.
Should the towering 28-year-old not receive the assurances he wants from Spurs, it would seem that he has a Serie A option.
Fiorentina have been tracking Kaboul for months and were linked with a move in the January transfer window.
The paper insists that there will be competition should Kaboul decide to find a new club but the Viola lead the chasing pack.
Wages could be a problem if there is a battle for Kaboul’s signature. Fiorentina were reportedly in the market for Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidic but couldn’t compete with Inter’s offer.
