Immediately after sending Anderson back to Manchester United, Fiorentina have their eyes on a new man.
Former Manchester United transfer target Miguel Veloso could replace Anderson at Fiorentina.
Italian reports have claimed last season’s fourth placed Serie A side have lodged a €6 million bid for Veloso, now of Dinamo Kiev.
The central midfielder was regularly linked to Manchester United when he was at Sporting Lisbon, with assistant manager Mike Phelan confessing: “We know Veloso well, including from the time he played against us. He is an excellent midfielder with great potential.”
Now 28, Veloso is coming off a fairly unspectacular season in Ukraine where he scored two goals and registered five assists in 32 games.
Yet Fiorentina see the him as a solid signing in their midfield, buoyed by his previous spell in Italy with Genoa.
It’s reported that the two clubs are slightly away on price, with Kiev demanding €7 million for his sale.
If a deal for the Portuguese international is sanctioned, it’s a further indication Fiorentina will not be pursuing Brazilian midfielder Anderson, after a disappointing loan from Manchester United, leaving the Red Devils back to square one in trying to find a suitor.
