Wolverhampton Wanderers have taken to Twitter to show off their Under-23s winning goal against their Manchester City counterparts in Saturday’s 2-1 triumph in the first division of the Premier League 2 .

Rob Edwards’ side had picked up four points from their opening four games of Division 1 following their promotion last season but went into the international break on the back of a defeat to Leicester City at Telford’s New Bucks Head.

Wolves began brightly as they sought to frustrate their opponents but fell behind in the 20th minute when Morgan Rogers sent his header beyond the reach of Molineux goalkeeper Andreas Sondergaard from Alpha Diounkou’s delivery.

City continued to threaten and nearly grabbed a second when Rogers’ powerful effort was tipped around the post expertly by Sondergaard on the half-hour mark, but Wolves managed to pull level just before half time, Bruno Jordao slotting home from inside the 18-yard box.

Wolves’ winner came in the 71st minute through Meritan Shabani, who rifled home a low rocket from just outside the box after some impressive build-up play down the right flank – and the Wanderers channel was eager to show it off to the fans:

Up next for Wolves U23s is a home PL2 game against Arsenal on Friday night.
