Kia Joorabchian, the agent of Philippe Coutinho, has claimed that the new Aston Villa signing wants to ‘finish his career’ in the Premier League, as he told talkSPORT.
The football agent added that Coutinho has joined Villa to work under Steven Gerrard and play at the ‘very high’ level.
Coutinho has moved to the Midlands on an initial loan deal from Barcelona until the end of the season.
But Villa have the opportunity to sign the 29-year-old on a permanent basis if things go well for him in B6.
It is reported by Sky Sports that Villa would have to put £33 million on the table to Barcelona if they take up that option.
This is what Coutinho’s agent had to say about him returning to the Premier League and his long-term thinking.
On a transfer back to the PL: “I think so,” said Joorabchian. “The last couple of years, we have been quite realistic in how we have done things.
“Phil is another good example of the reason to come here is to take that next step and then get that permanent move to the Premier League.
“So, I think it’s very realistic (transfer to PL). As you have seen with other clients of ours. It’s not just about the money. It’s about the football.
“Willie (Willian) left last year and gave up quite a chunk of his salary because it just wasn’t working out for him. Phil is the reverse. He wants to come in, play in the Premier League and finish his career, I think playing at the very high level of the Premier League.”

This is a genius move from Villa because they have structured the deal whereby it is a win-win situation for the club.
These six months provide Villa with the chance to see where Coutinho is at, and if things go wrong, then they don’t have to sign him up long-term.
Added with that, from a financial perspective, given the money Premier League teams and Villa have, then it’s a drop in the ocean.
But, if things go well, then prepare for Steven Gerrard taking Villa on a European tour and Coutinho scoring 30-yard rockets on a Tuesday night in Croatia.
