Arsenal face Manchester City on Wednesday evening and this game could well be decided by the fitness of one of Manchester City’s key players, Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian striker is by far and away the Premier League’s top goalscorer, and it’s fair to say that City are at their best when Haaland is fit and firing.
Luckily for Arsenal, Haaland went down with an injury over the weekend, and it’s not clear whether or not Haaland will be able to play at the Emirates this week.
Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has been previewing the big game, and he’s made it clear that he hopes Haaland isn’t playing.
Wright wants Haaland to miss the game
The pundit spoke about Haaland and the threat he poses.
“He’s menacing and he’s doing exactly what he came here to do. Fingers crossed he isn’t playing against us. When he does get his goals it’s when City get the ball out there early and get the ball in early. That cross doesn’t come in often enough for me when you have a player of that potency, it’s crazy,” Wright said.
Season-defining
Haaland’s fitness in this match could well define the title race this season.
If he plays and Manchester City win, you have to make the Cityzens favourites to go on and retain their Premier League crown this term.
However, if he misses the game and Arsenal manage to get the victory, all of a sudden, the Gunners’ title chances begin to look very real.
It remains to be seen whether Haaland plays, but it’s fair to say that Wright won’t be the only Arsenal fan hoping that he’s not able to turn out for this one.
