Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told Sky Sports that James Milner is absolutely fine.
Milner was brought off for Liverpool in the second half of their game against West Ham United, with Curtis Jones coming on to replace him.
It was revealed at full time that the substitution was made as Liverpool wanted to protect Milner from injury.
And Klopp said that his side acted just in time, as Milner was suffering from a problem in his hamstring, but it didn’t worsen.
“James Milner is fine but showed signs of hamstring so we chose the right moment to bring him off,” Klopp said.
That looks like good news for Liverpool, as Milner could be crucial at this moment in time.
With the Reds having so many players out with injury, Milner’s experience could be vital to his side.
Having said that, taking Milner off yesterday seemed to spark an improvement in Liverpool, who ran out comfortable winners in the end.
Almost immediately after Milner was withdrawn, the Reds’ took the lead and they then went and killed the game off.
Liverpool eventually ran out as 3-1 winners, with Klopp’s side now starting to click back into gear in an attacking sense.
The Reds’ win has lifted them back up to third place in the Premier League table.
