Reported Tottenham Hotspur and Everton target Arkadiusz Milik needs to escape his Napoli nightmare in the January transfer window, vice-president of the Polish Football Federation Mark Kozminski told Radio Kiss Kiss, via Labaro Viola.

With the Poles looking to put their 2018 World Cup humiliation behind them at next summer’s European Championships, it goes without saying that they need all their star players fit and firing.

But, as manager Jerzy Brzeczek said after the 2-0 midweek triumph over Ukraine, the fact that neither Milik nor West Brom winger Kamil Grosicki have played a minute of league football between them all season is a real cause for concern (Il Mattino).

Fortunately, Milik should not be short of offers in January, with AreaNapoli reporting that Everton are willing to pay £14 million for a man who impressed Carlo Ancelotti during their time together in Italy.

“Milik? In this situation, everyone is losing,” Kozminski says of a targetman who is out-of-favour at Napoli after refusing to extend a contract which expires next summer.

“Poland needs a Milik in his best condition.

“What will his new club be? I know that there has been talk of many teams, amongst them Inter Milan and Fiorentina. The hope is that the centre-forward can find a new team.”

Could that ‘new team’ be Tottenham?

TMW reported recently that Jose Mourinho’s Premier League challengers were planning to target Milik in the New Year after failing to agree a deal in the summer. Although this appears to rest on how Benfica loanee Carlos Vinicius gets on at Spurs.
