Louis Saha says he could see either Antonio Conte’s Tottenham or Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal signing Newcastle United winger, Allan Saint-Maximin, down the line, as he told GGrecon.

The former Premier League striker shared how, only last season, Saint-Maximin was ‘unreal’ for the Magpies, but now ‘nobody would have seen the prospect of Newcastle selling him’.

There was possible talk of Saint-Maximin leaving during the January transfer window, but instead, he stayed put, with Eddie Howe’s side in the final of the League Cup and sitting in the Champions League places.

The turnaround of the Magpies during the past 12 months has been pretty incredible and they are only heading one way.

When the Saudi-led takeover took charge of the club, many expected a big clearout and Saint-Maximin to be at the heart of their expected success.

But it has been far from that, which was touched upon by former Premier League striker Louis Saha, who thinks a move for the all-action forward could be on the cards.

“All young players should see how quick football goes,” said Saha.

“It’s unbelievable because last season Saint-Maximin was unreal and nobody would have been thinking about the prospect of Newcastle United selling him.

“He’s been unlucky this season with injuries, but he’s a top player and he could potentially find a move to one of the ‘big six’ clubs. I could see Arsenal or Tottenham having a player of Saint-Maximin’s quality and style.”

SAINT-MAXIMIN SHOULD STAY PUT

It’s understandable if Saint-Maximin secured a transfer to Arsenal in the summer because, by then, they might be champions of England.

Not only that, they will be expected to be in the Champions League.

But it’s a different story for Spurs, not only might they be missing out on a top-four finish, but they might go yet another season trophyless, whilst Newcastle win their first in decades.

Either way, the project at St James’ Park is far better than what’s being cooked at Hotspur Way, so whatever happens, Saint-Maximin should stay put.
