Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that they’d entered into an official partnership with Hamburger SV.
The German side have been allies of the Gers ever since the 1970s, as the two sets of fanbases built close ties roughly 50 years ago according to the announcement.
A number of new initiatives are being introduced to help this partnership blossom.
One of those involves offers for supporters of each side wanting to visit either Ibrox or the Volksparkstadion.
Furthermore, a number of ‘Fan Talks’ will be created, with representatives of both clubs jumping onto social media to help interaction between the fanbases.

Also, there will be a focus on ensuring this friendship continues into the next generation of supporters.
Plans are already in motion for the junior sections of both clubs, which involve the HSV Fußballschule and Rangers Football Academy, and mascots Dino Hermann and Broxi Bear.
It’s fantastic to see the two clubs recognise their great relationship by agreeing to an official partnership.

It remains to be seen if this will also see players traded more often between the two sides.
If that is the case, we could see some players swap Hamburger SV for Rangers in the near future.
Let’s see what the Rangers fans on Twitter have been saying about the announcement…
