Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sky Sports revealed that Premier League clubs aren’t obligated to release players for international football in March.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, FIFA have extended their ruling that clubs can refuse to send players away on international duty.

Now, this is excellent news for Liverpool.

The international break in March sees Brazil and Portugal embark on some important fixtures, as qualification for the 2022 World Cup gets underway.

In normal circumstances, this would’ve seen the likes of Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Diogo Jota depart Merseyside to partake in these games.

However, Liverpool can now decide against shipping them away.

This is huge news for Jurgen Klopp, as the Reds have some pretty important games themselves in March.

The second leg of Liverpool’s Champions League Last 16 clash against RB Leipzig is scheduled for March 10th.

Additionally, the Reds have a massive game against Chelsea on March 20th, while they also face Fulham and Wolves in the Premier League.

However, it’s no longer an issue, in what is a fantastic bit of news for the club.
