Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have suggested that they are pleased Erik Lamela’s time at the club could be coming to an end.
Fabrizio Romano has told the Last Word on Spurs podcast that Lamela is eager to move back to Italy and he now expects him to leave in the summer.
And it is fair to say that many Spurs supporters aren’t particularly upset about the prospect of potentially losing Lamela.
Lamela has been with Spurs for over seven years now, but he has never quite been able to deliver on a consistent basis.
The Argentine has struggled badly with injury issues and he is effectively just a covering option for Jose Mourinho’s side now.
While Mourinho does seem to trust the wide-man, he very rarely starts, and is frequently used as a substitute.
Lamela has frustrated many Tottenham supporters over the years due to his failure to stay fit.
But, as things stands, he could still have an important role to play between now and the end of the season, as a squad player.
