Cameron Carter-Vickers finally left Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The USA international quit Spurs to join Celtic on a permanent basis earlier in the window, after helping them to Scottish Premiership title glory on loan last season.

That was the 24-year-old’s seventh loan away from Tottenham, where he began his career.

Despite being on the Lilywhites’ books for so long, Carter-Vickers never managed a senior Premier League appearance for the North Londoners.

And the player himself is delighted over taking the ‘next step’ in his career by leaving Tottenham.

He told The Scottish Sun: “It was important for me to finally get away from Tottenham. For me, it’s just about the next step. And that next step for me now is about trying to improve my football and performances for Celtic.”

Tottenham are reported to have received around £6 million for Carter-Vickers up front, with add-ons potentially making the deal £10 million [The Times].

For someone who had zero future at the club under Antonio Conte, picking up an eight-figure sum would represent astonishing business.

Despite never managing a Premier League debut at Spurs, this is a very capable defender nonetheless.

Even after his Celtic stint, he was being linked with moves to Premier League outfits like Newcastle and maybe, just maybe, a return to English football could happen at some point down the line if he continues to do the business in Glasgow.
