Celtic beat Motherwell to win the Scottish League Cup this afternoon.
Celtic added another trophy to their cabinet this afternoon, as they beat Motherwell 2-0 in the final of the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park.
The Bhoys went into the game as firm favourites having failed to lose a single domestic match under Brendan Rodgers, and they unsurprisingly claimed the win.
Winger James Forrest opened the scoring for the Bhoys, cutting in from the right hand side to bend a superb left-footed strike into the corner of the net.
One become two when Scott Sinclair controversially went down under Cedric Kipre’s challenge, with the French defender harshly sent off when Sinclair appeared to have dived.
Moussa Dembele stepped up to score the resulting penalty, handing Celtic a 2-0 win and Rodgers’ fourth domestic trophy as Celtic manager.
Some fans are already dreaming of a second successive unbeaten treble, but others focused on today’s game, and the performance of goalscorer Forrest.
The wide man’s goal capped off another fine performance, and fans took to Twitter to suggest that he was ‘exceptional’, ‘sublime’ and silencing his haters having received plenty of criticism in recent years.
Others hailed Forrest’s development since Rodgers became manager, praising his turnaround having seemingly been heading for the exit door under previous boss Ronny Deila.
