Kevin Campbell has stated on Twitter that it’s ‘great to see’ Arsenal duo Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel earn their first call-ups for their country.

On Monday, Arsenal’s Hale-End academy product was pushed up to England’s senior set-up, whilst Gabriel’s performances in defence could now see him line up at the back for Brazil.

Former Highbury striker Campbell was delighted that they ‘finally’ were rewarded for ‘some quality’ performances.

Smith Rowe is one of the form midfielders in the country and he proved that when he scored for the third successive Premier League game against Watford on Sunday.

In this case, it was the winning goal, which was added with the clean sheet that Gabriel and Arsenal’s transformed backline produced.

The fact that Arsenal’s young guns are being rewarded on the international stage for their domestic performances probably proves the progression Mikel Arteta is making.

There is still a long way to go, but the club is finally starting to turn a corner.

All of Arsenal’s backline, except for Ben White, will be on national duty this week and some would question why the ball-playing centre-back hasn’t been called up.

Gareth Southgate knows what he is all about because he has selected him before, but White has performed better than Harry Maguire, Tyrone Mings and Conor Coady, yet still hasn’t been selected.

But all the big-money summer signing can continue to do is do his talking on the field of play and then surely he won’t be ignored any longer.
